About

I grew up in South Africa, in the confusing violence of apartheid from the 60’s - 80’s. Do we choose our childhoods? I have begun to wonder why it happens as it does and what is it that we need to learn from these places, families and context.
After qualifying with a pharmacology degree I had a short stint working as an industrial pharmacologist in South Africa and then left for the UK. My career shifted into the world of advertising and production - stressful, fast and enjoyable until it wasn’t. During this time I was introduced to cranio-sacral therapy (a type of body work using light touch). It appeared over the next decade or so that I had been living at quite some distance from my body. Through this approach I was introduced to the work of, amongst others, Carl Jung, Buddhism and then finally in my early 40’s to psycho spiritual enquiry and trained as a Core Process Psychotherapist at The Karuna Institute in Devon, and received my MA in 2009. I have followed this widening path ever since.
I am also a parent of 3 grown children and entered the world of environmental activism in 2018, offering passionately whatever was possible for me to offer to work towards a safer and better future, and seek new stories to live by during these difficult times. More of this in the Environmental section.
